About Me
Hi, I'm Ivan — a student from the San Francisco Bay Area with a passion for electrical and computer engineering. What excites me most is the moment a circuit comes to life or a device sends its first reading to the screen.
Hands-on work with IoT systems and real residential wiring has taught me to think like an engineer: form a hypothesis, test it, and keep digging until the problem makes sense. Outside the lab, you'll find me debating, swimming, bouldering, or on a trail with friends.
Engineering Experience
Electrical Engineering, One Touch Electric — Alameda, CA
Working alongside a licensed electrical contractor turned physics formulas into real circuits I could measure and fix.
Traced residential circuits from the service panel to outlets and lights, identifying hot, neutral, and ground
Measured voltage and continuity with a multimeter and applied Ohm's law to load and breaker calculations
Diagnosed a dead outlet circuit by predicting the fault, isolating the bad connection, and verifying the repair
Stanford Engineering Program
Studying civil engineering showed me how smart design can make structures stronger and cities more sustainable.
Designed and built a load-bearing paper tower, testing how geometry affects strength and stability
Researched innovative civil engineering concepts, including vertical green spaces in urban design
Strengthened the physics and math skills that form the foundation of every engineering discipline
IoT and Embedded Systems, Chronicled Inc — San Francisco, CA
Building my first connected device showed me how hardware, software, and the cloud work together as one system.
Wired a temperature and humidity sensor to an ESP32 microcontroller and programmed it to send live readings over Bluetooth
Traced how Chronicled's devices move data from sensor to mobile app to cloud, including NFC data retrieval
Explored cryptographic hashing and blockchain to understand why pharmaceutical data must stay tamper-proof
Leadership
Over 100 hours, I supported a camper with special needs through every part of his day, from meals and changing to keeping his schedule on track. Learning to adapt to different communication and learning styles made me a more patient and attentive leader.

Varsity Debater, Speech and Debate
Starting in Novice and JV as a junior, I moved up to Varsity as a senior. At Parli 3, a 4-3 record across seven rounds, with just 20 minutes of prep each, earned me the Positive Record Award in JV. Debate taught me to think fast, listen closely, and defend my ideas with evidence.

Athletics
Swimming taught me that progress comes from showing up every day, even when no one is watching.
Began swimming recreationally in the fall and winter of junior year, building endurance and technique from the ground up
Joined the school team in spring 2027 and competed in five JV meets, learning to perform under race-day pressure
Earned a place on the Varsity team as a senior, a step that reflects steady commitment and hard work in the pool
